I've been ministering with Stokelan Drive Christian Church since July, 1995. And through that time, I have witnessed God doing some amazing things in the lives of people who are part of the SDCC family. I would like to invite you to take part in the "God-thing" that is happening at Stokelan Drive Christian Church. I can promise you that if you are looking for teaching and preaching that comes straight from the Bible, then SDCC is the place for you. What's more…you will find warm fellowship, friendly faces, enthusiastic worship and lots of ways for you to use your talents. If you visit at SDCC, make sure to say, "Hello" to me and tell me your name. I'll be glad to see you!
Here's a little bit about me…
My wife, Kristi and I were married on August 23, 1975 right here in Malden. She is the most amazing woman and I can't imagine doing what I do without her. We have three adult daughters (Amy, Abby & Annie), a son-in-law (Dustin who is married to Annie) and most importantly, we have the cutest and smartest granddaughter ever…Sadie Gray Stout!
I grew up in suburban Saint Louis and graduated from McCluer North Senior High School in Florissant. A bit of trivia: I was a part of the first graduating class in McCluer North's history. After high school, I attended Saint Louis Christian College receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ministry (I have a minor in Biblical Greek). I pastored churches in Illinois, Indiana, and Florida before coming to work at SDCC.
My Dad and his father were both preachers and so are my two brothers, David and Douglas.
I love the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues and Missouri Tigers. Since we lived in central Florida for a time, I still follow the Orlando Magic basketball team from afar!
I have written for THE LOOKOUT magazine and contributed a chapter on worship to the book, Unleashing the Potential of the Smaller Church. I visited Russia and Haiti on mission trips and believe me when I tell you, there is no place like the good ole USA! Currently, I'm serving on the Executive Committee for the Missouri Christian Convention and will be President of 2012 Missouri Christian Convention.
One place that I would love to visit someday is Hawaii. I love the beach and ocean!
Sad to say, but it would probably be easier for me to list the foods I don't like rather than list my favorite foods! Mmm…hot bread and honey!
My favorite Christian singing group of all time…the Imperials. I still listen to their old records (got them on CD now). It was really cool to have Jim Murray and Terry Blackwood come and do concerts at SDCC. I even got to sing "Give Them All to Jesus" with Terry.
The one thing that I want people to remember about me is that I did the best I could. I truly believe that God doesn't care if we are successful, but that he does care if we don't try with everything we've got.
My favorite part of working at SDCC happens when God's Word comes alive in a new and fresh way in Bible study or sermon. I love to see the "I get it!" moments happen in the minds of our church family as we study together.
My words of advice: Have fun…do your best…don't take yourself too seriously, and most of all, realize that the best is yet to come!
